Make More Money; The 3 Essential Pitfalls to Avoid

No. One

Having more money can be and is a great incentive. However you know as well as I do that to get more money from a job means there has to be a payoff.

More often than not, more money = more responsibility and basically more of your time in the office.

So actually… More Money = Less Personal Time

No. Two

Buying a pre-exisiting business or franchise means yes, you are your own boss. I agree to a certain extent BUT buying a business can mean you end up spending even longer hours working. You effectively are just buying another job.

SO what could you do that would mean you replace the salary, or even better make more money AND work fewer hours?

Now that’s the million dollar question. The best answer is to get money working for you.

What could you do, what could you buy that will make you money?

Three answers:

1. Real estate

2. Stocks, shares etc

3. Business

But before you go rushing out and buying up cheap stocks and real estate or start your own business…

No. Three

“Never Invest In Something You Do Not Understand” ~ Warren Buffet.

“Invest” in this instance I believe is both time and money. Why invest 12, 14 hours a day in a business you don’t understand? We’ve all seen it, people’s money halved because they invested in superannuation and funds they don’t understand.

I wouldn’t go near a financial advisor if they didn’t invest in the things they want you to invest your money in. And anyway, no doubt the majority of ‘advisors’ are on a wage, earning no more than Joe Average. If they were so good at what they do, why aren’t they making their millions in funds?

I’ll get off my soap box now…

There is nothing more powerful or empowering than educating yourself. In every experinece there is a lesson we can learn; the mistakes, the successes are all lessons and an education. For some there is only one way to get that education, that is by taking ACTION.

Until next time; keep on keeping on.

5 Ways To Overcome Fear And Frustration

It’s been a roller coaster of a ride these past few weeks so much so it has sent me into a tail spin on a number of occasions.

A huge opportunity has been presentes and the true enormity of it has taken a while to digest. This has therefore meant my priorites have shifted considerably, or more like, been upended so I have not known which way is up.

More often than not a good interval session in the gym followed by lovely hot shower can help soothe the tension. However today – not so much.

Today it’s taken an indepth strategy session with my husband, conversation with my sister, a great client and a really helpful lady at hostmonster.com to alleviate the extraordinary overwhelm of it all.

I am standing on the razor sharp edge of an enormous chasm called “The Great Unknown”. All sorts of emotions have raised their ugly heads and for one I have needed to push through, feel it and let it wash over me to know what to do with it.

Through all of this I have identified 5 ways in which you can at least alleviate frustration and overwhelm here’s what I have learned:

1. Voice it, label it and write it down

This allows you to take ownership of the frustration and helps you lead to the next step

2. Identify what one thing can be done right now, today, to take a step forward

Have a list of things you can do in a short space of time.

3. Take action – do the thing you know you can do today

4. Try not to allow emotion overwhelm the situation

Emotion will blow it all out of proportion and you won’t get anything done. Robert Kiyosaki said it can be terrifying flying a helicopter but if you allow the fear, the emotion, control you, you’d be in a very different situation!

5. Have an awesome support team

They will enable you to get through the emotional side of things so you can think clearer.

We will all have our “off” days – I feel for some reason seem to be having more than the usual. I like to believe it because I am standing on this awesome precipice and resistance is doing all it can to stop me from moving forward.

Resistance… well that’s a whole conversation in itself. A very insightful being, called Stephen Pressfield, wrote a whole book about it – The War Of Art. A whole post in itself.

I’ll leave you with a great comment my sister made today.

~ Do not look at the wave coming towards you; just keep doing a little at a time, make incremental steps and be resilient ~

It reminds me of what Dory says in the film Finding Nemo ”Just keep swimming, just keep swimming, just keep swimming, swimming.”

Until next time, just keep swimming!
